Who is the client and why did they come to us?

Robert Goddard is an independent quality clothing business with six stores across East Anglia.  Founded in 1895 they still hold the same high customer service standards that were instilled 100 years ago by founder and Robert’s Grandfather, George Goddard.  One of the largest UK Hugo Boss retailers, Robert Goddard are making great strides to develop their online presence in 2021.  

  • They came to us just 24 days before Cyber Week, a pivotal period for their business.  
  • They had lowered confidence in the channel after previous investment, management and disappointing results. 
  • They came to us with a simple objective to drive as much revenue and make their budget run more efficiently through Google Ads.  


So, what did we do?

  • We took things back to basics. Firstly, we carried out a full account audit to ensure that campaigns were set up to our best practice model and using Smart Shopping campaigns and automated bid strategies ahead of peak season.  
  • To drive as much relevant traffic and revenue as possible, we used Maximise Conversion Value bidding across Smart Shopping.
  • After driving traffic and conversions though this tactic we accrued enough data that we were able to switch to Target ROAS ahead of Black Friday to ensure we were hitting our clients performance objectives. The campaigns then consistently exceeded their ROAS targets. 
  • The client was so happy with performance that as long as we sustained ROAS above their target they were happy to keep increasing spend, maximising their visibility during this crucial period.

In just 10 days from takeover, prior to the Black Friday peak, these simple yet vital steps saw YoY activity improve significantly:
