We go way back

As far back as 2009, our parent group N21 offered our paid marketing services as part of its repertoire. However, until 2020, we were simply a key team in a full-service marketing agency.

That’s when N21 CEO, Neil Robbins, took a step back to look at the astounding success of the paid team (us!), with our dedication and passion to clients and work. Neil decided that we had a better chance of realising our vision and potential if we split from the full-service agency and formed our own, specialist offering, The result? The birth of Ortus: – a specialist, boutique agency with a laser-focus on paid marketing.

Our client retention rates are extraordinary. Clients who work with us for our paid services stay for at least three years on average, renewing and growing year after year. We can’t give a definitive figure on average contract lengths, as the majority of our clients are so long-standing they’re still with us to this day!

Sarah headed into her first PPC role straight from her marketing degree nine years ago, and hasn’t ever looked back. She’s always loved making clients happy and over-delivering on performance results. Now, she gets the exact same satisfaction when we achieve this for our clients! Sarah previously headed up the PPC management for Clarks across all major European markets and delivered their biggest Back to School period ever… not just once, she went on to beat her own record performance a year later too! Nominated for a heap of awards including Digital Strategy of the Year and Rising Star at The Drum, you’re in safe PPC hands here.

She’s 99% sure she is of Italian descent, as she feels too at home when she’s there and around their culture, climate and most importantly, their food and alcohol.

Managing our team of experts and overseeing our clients’ paid strategies, Jess is super hot with account efficiency and is obsessed with providing a seamless client experience. She enables her team to develop in their individual areas of strength and passion.

She is a mother to Maggie, her diva cocker spaniel with a savage side-eye.

Matt

Over the past 8 years Matt has worked with a wide range of clients, from fostering agencies to universities to online glasses retailers. If you need a social strategy he’s the one to go to. He lives and breathes social advertising, from Facebook to Reddit, if you’re trying to fill your conversion funnel from the top to the bottom, he knows which ad formats to use and how to use them for maximum impact.

When he’s not obsessing over Facebook’s 20% text on image guidelines, he’s usually planning his next Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

Chris

During his 7 years in paid marketing, across both agency and in-house roles, Chris has established himself as the go-to guy for all things technical in paid. He enjoys getting under the bonnet of accounts, working on tracking and scripts, as well as auditing an account from top to bottom.

Whilst previously you’d likely have found him on a golf course in his spare time, he’s currently busy embodying Nick Knowles as he renovates his house.

Craig

Our data wizard who turns clients raw data into a masterpiece of insights. What Craig doesn’t know about Excel and Google Sheets probably isn’t worth knowing (but please test him anyway!). Craig brings a wealth of experience managing PPC accounts for huge household names such as Guinness, Bosch and Clarks, across a vast range of territories.

When he isn’t smashing client performance, he is our office quizmaster and even dresses up in a suit for the occasion!

Carl

Carl joined Ortus from a London agency, where over the years he has worked in both their paid and display activation teams. After a few years working in the Big Smoke, Carl decided to relocate back to his roots in the North East. He brings a wealth of knowledge to team Ortus, having delivered campaigns for brands including Estée Lauder, Nissan and Specsavers. Having such an eye for data and natural ability with numbers, he has made it his life’s mission to ensure clients get the most efficiency out of their accounts.

Outside of work, Carl can usually be found in one of two places, either covered in mud in the middle of a rugby field or standing on the side-lines coaching.

Jo’s extensive 15 years experience in client services within sectors including travel, retail, automotive and technology means our clients get the exact experience they need… and then some more.

Jo is our go-to furniture upcycler, and when not at work or upcycling her next project, she likes to be up a mountain or in a restaurant.

Maggie was hired due to her adaptability, her team player enthusiasm and her ability to grab attention. After a hard day in the office, you can usually find her dishing out her infamous side-eye to her parents, just to remind them who rules the roost.
